Winnats Pass at Sunrise

Peak District

This photo was taken on at Winnats Pass in the Peak District. My original intentions for this shoot was to get a good photo of sunset at about 9:40pm; I did do that and when I was about to leave, I saw a thunderstorm on the horizon and watched the lightning trying (and failing) to get a photo of it! I eventually got back to my car just after midnight and had the crazy thought that “it is only 3:30hrs until sunrise, I could nap in the car to pass the time…” So that’s exactly what I did! The sunrise was beautiful with the beams of warm light hitting the cliffs creating a nice warm atmosphere.
